Re: Rob Kendt's review of "The King & I" ("East
and West Meet Cute in a Perky 'King and I,' " April 7): It has become a
cliche to say "was he watching the same show?"
If he is going to do a comparison, why compare it to the 1996
revival? Why not compare it to the original version? Better yet, why compare?
Why not critique on the merits of the current version, which, in
my opinion, is a stunning, thoroughly professional performance.
It was obvious the audience did not agree with Mr. Kendt.
